A Prussia Cove captain whose autobiography describes the business, violence and personal cost of smuggling.
Harry Carter belonged to the smuggling world of Prussia Cove on Cornwall’s south coast near Marazion. His autobiographical account combines sea voyages, business and violent encounters with religious reflection. His January 1788 escape at Cawsand is a first-person account of the risks. It illustrates wider Cornish smuggling, not an established connection to Holywell or Newquay tunnels.
