Website design & development

WEBSITES
THAT DO

THEIR JOB.

I design and build websites from Newquay, Cornwall, for UK and international clients. From a focused small build to a larger redesign with content, integrations and workflows behind it, the job is to make the website useful. We work out what it needs to do, then agree a scope and proposal around that.

A short call. I will listen, ask a few questions and tell you honestly what I think the first move is.

Who this is for

IS THIS THE RIGHT SERVICE?

  1. You need a focused small website that says what you do clearly and gets the right people in touch.
  2. You need a larger redesign or a new build, with the content, structure and systems thought through together.
  3. Your business takes bookings, applications or enquiries, and the website should handle them properly rather than pointing at a phone number.
  4. You want the person you brief to be the person who designs it, builds it and answers the phone afterwards.

If the problem is not the website, I will say so. Quite often the useful first move is digital strategy, and the build comes after.

Scope follows the job

THE WEBSITE, AND WHAT MAKES IT WORK

Sometimes the right answer is a small, focused site. Sometimes it is a bigger digital project. Neither needs to be squeezed into a package that does not fit.

  1. Discovery and positioning: who the site is for, what you offer and what people need to understand.
  2. Information architecture and content: the pages, words and routes that make the site easy to use.
  3. Design and development: a focused new build or a larger redesign, built around the people using it.
  4. Integrations and workflows: bookings, applications and enquiries, with automation or systems work where it helps.
  5. Migrations and launch: moving existing content and planning the changeover, with ongoing support available afterwards.

Larger and substantive projects are individually scoped and proposal-led. We agree the deliverables, price, dependencies and timeline in writing before work starts.

WHAT CLIENTS SAID

5 out of 5

If it's something Tim is not sure about, he makes it his business to find out and brief in full. I am so happy with his work; Tim has since produced another two websites and blown me away.

I am extremely impressed by the website created for me by Tim which is both user friendly and easy to edit myself. Tim Lord took the time to perfect the website for me personally and include a variety of functions and features.

What working together involves

HOW A BUILD GOES

No account manager, no handover to somebody junior once the interesting part is over. You are talking to the person doing the work throughout.

  1. A short call

Twenty minutes on what the site has to do, for whom, and what is getting in the way. We work out where to start, including discovery if the brief needs it.

  2. Proposal and contract

Scope, price, timeline and what I need from you, in plain language, by email. A deposit gets it started.

  3. Words and pictures

We agree the information architecture and content the site needs. If the words or pictures do not exist yet, we plan that work and its timing rather than pretending.

  4. Build and review

You review the real site, not a mock-up of one. Changes are agreed as we go, and scope can change when the work teaches us something.

  5. Launch and handover

Domain, hosting and analytics consent sorted, and you know how to update the things you will want to update.

Timing follows the agreed scope, content, integrations and review stages. The proposal sets out the milestones and what each of us needs to supply.

QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK

Do you do one-off projects?

Yes. Website builds are usually one-off projects. Ongoing support is available afterwards and is never a condition of working together.

How fast can we move?

It depends on the job, the content and the systems involved. A focused build and a larger redesign need different plans. We agree milestones, dependencies and review time in the proposal before work starts.

Does it have to be WordPress?

No. I choose the platform to fit the job. Many of the sites in the portfolio are WordPress builds; this site is not. If you already have a platform you like and it does what you need, that is usually where we start.

What if I do not know what I need?

Book the call. I will listen, ask the right questions and tell you honestly what the biggest lever is. If it is still unclear, start with digital strategy rather than a build.

How do you charge?

Projects are scoped individually and priced in a written proposal. Larger website and digital projects are proposal-led, with discovery where needed. Scope, payment stages and changes are agreed before work starts; there is no universal project fee.

Do you run ads?

I can help with strategy and setup, but I only recommend ads once the website converts. Spending on ads before the site works is burning money.

Do you only work with businesses in Cornwall?

No. I am in Newquay, most of the work happens online, and I work with UK and international clients. We agree practical meeting and review times around the project.
