An account is free, and it does not start a subscription. It is what you will join from when paid signup opens.
When I write something up, most of what made it work does not survive the edit: the file I actually used, the version that failed, the checklist I built so I would stop making the same mistake. Those files exist. They just have nowhere to go on a public page without ruining it.
So they live in the Workshop instead. The public writing stays generous and stays free — I am not moving articles behind a login and calling it membership. The Workshop is for people who want the working files behind the work, not another stream of things to read.
It also pays for the time. That is the honest reason a price exists at all.

One list of every Workshop file on the site: templates, checklists, prompts, code and the working documents behind published pieces. Some resources here are free to anyone; the Workshop ones are the deeper files, and the Vault is where all of them are gathered rather than scattered across articles.
The public piece stays public and stays complete — nothing is cut out of it to make a paid version. What it cannot carry is the file I actually worked from, so where one exists it stays attached to the piece that produced it, and the Workshop is what opens it.
Everything with Workshop material behind it in one filtered list, by kind and by format, so you can find the pieces that have working files attached instead of opening articles hoping to find one.
Every tool I have built that you can actually use, with what is behind it: what it was ported from and what it does with what you type. The experiments themselves stay public and always will be; what the Workshop adds is the working file behind one, where there is one.
The projects that are genuinely running, each one gathering everything published about it in one place: building this site, working with AI agents, Music Kite, and Cornwall's lost railways.
There is no course, no coaching, no community chat and no support package. It is material, not a programme.
Nothing is on a schedule. Things appear when I have made them, and I am not promising a weekly drop.

An account on its own does not include Workshop access, and the newsletter is a separate thing again.

Both give exactly the same Workshop access. The yearly option is one payment a year instead of twelve; it does not unlock anything extra.
Paid signup is not open yet. These are the prices it will open at, and nothing on this page can take a payment today. Creating an account now costs nothing and starts no subscription.

Card details are handled by Stripe's secure checkout. They never reach this site.
Workshop access appears on your account once the payment is confirmed, and the Workshop is then yours to read.
Billing will live on your account page: your current period, and the controls to update a card, see invoices or cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal and your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. The terms and the privacy policy set out the rest, including your consumer rights.
