Grampound Road was an intermediate station on the Cornwall main line between St Austell and Truro. Its name became part of the settlement that grew around the railway.
The station is a useful reminder that losing a local rail service does not necessarily mean losing the railway itself. The research record identifies a former station site on the continuing main-line corridor. For comparisons of historical transport, the presence of tracks and the availability of a place to board a train are separate questions.
