Holywell Cave lies in the cliff setting at Holywell Bay. Before the 2026 rockfall, accounts and photographs recorded freshwater pools with coloured mineral deposits forming a remarkable stepped interior.

The water attracted healing traditions and stories about people bringing sick children to the well. Those beliefs belong to the history of the place; they are not evidence that the water cured illness. The cave is also separate from the inland well at Trevornick.

A major cliff collapse reported in August 2026 blocked the entrance. Earlier descriptions of walking inside at low tide are therefore historical accounts, not current access instructions. Photographs and the recorded descriptions now provide the route into its history.
