Mount Mine, also known as Perran Iron Mine, was one of the workings along the Great Perran Iron Lode inland from the north coast. Its story includes iron and associated lead and zinc, with nineteenth-century operations and later reworking.

This is not the mine beneath Mount Wise in Newquay. The shared word “Mount” can make a map look connected in entirely the wrong way.

The important connection is geological and industrial: Mount Mine belongs beside Treamble, Retallack and the other workings along the lode. An ore-bearing structure could continue across several mining properties, each with its own operations and history. That is why the lode, the mines and the railways need separate entries linked together rather than one long paragraph labelled “mining”.
