Tin and tungsten working near Perranporth that continued into the Second World War.
Cligga Head lies on the coast south-west of Perranporth. Its mining history includes earlier tin working and a twentieth-century tin-and-tungsten operation, active from 1938 until 1945. That later phase is why the site belongs in a story about wartime industry as well as Cornwall’s older mining landscape. It should not be pictured as an unchanged Victorian copper mine.
