An older Perranporth mining site whose names and operating phases need careful separation.
Great St George belongs to the mining landscape on the western side of Perranporth, around St George’s Hill. The local heritage evidence places its first documentary mention in 1598. Tin working and later copper mining form parts of its history. Several related names and operating phases appear in the district’s records; they should not be treated as one unchanging company or a single precisely mapped underground site.
