Goonhavern is a village inland from Perranporth. Its surrounding countryside contains overlapping traces of mining, mineral transport and the later passenger railway.
Goonhavern Halt belonged to the Chacewater–Newquay branch, while the Treamble and Gravel Hill mineral routes served industrial workings nearby. The village is therefore a useful starting point for distinguishing several different railways that can otherwise be grouped together as one lost line. Local-history collections preserve photographs and maps that help connect those separate routes with the modern landscape.
