Shepherds Junction connected the Treamble mineral railway with the route later used by the Chacewater–Newquay passenger branch. It was close to Shepherds station, but the junction and passenger platform were distinct railway features.

The connection helps explain why a remote rural location appears so often in the district’s railway history. Mineral traffic followed the branch towards Treamble and Gravel Hill, while passenger trains served a different pattern of journeys. Historic mileage references identify the junction in the network; a precise map pin still needs to come from a properly identified historical alignment.
