Defence Unlimited
Brand, website and membership tools that brought a growing martial-arts business together.

From a one-page introduction to a business people could join online.
I developed Defence Unlimited’s brand and built a WordPress website that brought class registration, payments, member profiles, merchandise and communication into one system. The same identity carried through business cards, brochures, flyers, landing pages and social content.
The starting point
Defence Unlimited had a basic one-page website describing the business and listing its class timetable. Anyone who wanted to join had to make contact by email or phone. The website introduced the classes, but the work of registering people, taking payments and keeping their details organised happened manually.
The brief was to bring those activities online while giving the business a more consistent and professional identity. New customers needed to be able to find the company, understand the classes and join without every step requiring a separate conversation.
Developing the brand across the business
The client came with an initial logo idea. I refined the logo and developed the wider brand, establishing a consistent approach to colour, graphic design and presentation. That work extended through the website, business cards, brochures, flyers, social channels and merchandise.
Certificates, gift vouchers and clothing were further applications of the identity. The value was in how the pieces worked together: the material someone saw before joining, the site they registered through and the items they encountered as a member all belonged to the same recognisable business.
A working membership and commerce system
I designed and developed the WordPress website and content management system around online class registration, member profiles, timetables and payments. People could join through the site, find the relevant class information and buy merchandise online.
The member community also had a forum and ways to share photos, stories and encouragement. These features supported the relationship beyond a class booking, while the website gave the owner one place to manage the information behind those activities.
Communication without searching through records
Registrations, payments and contact information became part of the website’s administration. The owner could log in to contact an individual member or communicate with the wider membership, instead of finding details in manual records and emailing people separately.
The newsletter system supported regular communication with the community. Online purchasing brought merchandise orders into the same working environment, reducing the number of separate processes the owner had to keep track of.
Helping new members find the business
The project included search engine optimisation, landing pages, general content creation and setup for Google AdWords and display advertising. I also produced social content using the developed brand. The work connected promotion with a website capable of handling the next step: joining, paying or making a purchase.
The practical result
The finished system moved registration, payment, member communication and merchandise purchasing into one place. The owner could manage those activities through the website rather than maintaining them through calls, emails and separate records.
It was a broad commission spanning brand development, design, development and marketing, with a clear operational purpose behind the visual work.
